Unchained Solutions has created 7 e-learning modules focused on equipping Australian healthcare professionals with the tools and resources to identify, treat and refer patients in situations of modern slavery.

1. Introduction to Modern Slavery in Healthcare

This module articulates what modern slavery is and how organisations are impacted by the compliance mechanism of the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). It highlights the risk of modern slavery in health supply chains and in Australian healthcare settings.

2. Conscious Consumerism as a Health Professional

This module focuses on developing an awareness of modern slavery in our personal choices as health professionals and as consumers. It Includes an overview of modern slavery in consumer goods supply chains and practical steps we can take as individuals to be conscious consumers.

3. Identifying People in Situations of Modern Slavery

This module provides skills training for health professionals to identify patients in situations of modern slavery in clinical contexts and in the community. It provides resources to aid in the identification of patients at risk of modern slavery.

4. Raising Awareness of Modern Slavery in the Workplace

This module provides skills training for health professionals in caring, education, and leadership roles to raise awareness of modern slavery in their workplace and community, and to empower those around them to identify the risks in the workplace.

5. Making an Impact on Health Supply Chains

This module identifies the role of health professionals as influencers in the workplace. It shows how they can make an impact on modern slavery through ethical sourcing, by looking deeper into modern slavery in health supply chains and making better informed choices about the products and services used in healthcare settings.

6. Mitigating the Risk of Modern Slavery in Healthcare

This module trains health professionals in policy-making roles. It gives guidelines on what to include in a modern slavery policy and what inputs are necessary for other policies relating to procurement and human resources. It also provides insight into effective reporting mechanisms and guidance on ethical purchasing practices.

7. Developing Governance Frameworks in Healthcare

This module provides skills training for health professionals in executive and administrative contexts. It includes steps for developing effective governance frameworks and policies to mitigate, monitor, and report modern slavery risks within healthcare settings. Further, it gives insight into working with procurement and supply chain personnel.
