Strategy

Unchained's Strategic Framework Review and Action Roadmap solution assesses organisations' engagement and maturity with business, human rights, and environmental due diligence directives like the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.

The review involves a comprehensive desk-based investigation of the organisation's governance and risk management framework to identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities for due diligence. Documents such as sustainability reports, policy portfolios, and stakeholder engagement data are reviewed. Additionally, a 1-3-year Action Roadmap for continuous improvement is provided.

ANALYSIS

Using our digital tools in data analytics, we will assess your entire value chain for human rights and modern slavery risk. This includes mapping and categorising your supplier base to create a risk profile for each of your suppliers, distributors and service providers.

It is then through our channel partners; we can conduct a supplier vertical mapping assessment and social compliance audit. These tools help you to get greater clarity on what the real risks are at the source of production and extraction of raw materials.

The Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) and (NSW) expect organisations to have a clear understanding of where the risks of forced labour, child labour and human trafficking may lie in their entire value chain. Utilising our risk assessment tool, we enable you to understand the risk of modern slavery in your supply chain and operations. We do this through our modern slavery risk matrix to assess the inherent risks. This matrix includes the integration of country and category risk based on a UNSPSC taxonomy.

The first step in the modern slavery risk assessment is to map the direct suppliers in your supply chain by geography, product and spend. At Unchained, we categorise suppliers using the UNSPSC taxonomy. We then deploy our risk matrix to assess modern slavery risk by country and category. With the foundational understanding of where the risks lie among your key vendors within your value-chain, we can help you establish a framework to go deeper in risk management towards the sources of production and beyond.

Following the inherent risk assessment outlined above, Unchained will help you to segment those suppliers and labour hire-firms in the medium-to-high risk category. With this segment, Unchained can conduct a residual risk assessment comprising a Self-Assessment Questionnaire (SAQ) covering over 30 key questions on business and human rights including environmental factors.

Using Unchained’s SAQ scoring mechanism, Unchained will bench-mark your suppliers on their responses and supportive evidence including policies and risk management data, and provide an analysis report with insights and recommendations on next steps.

Selecting the suppliers with the highest risk of human rights and modern slavery, we then conduct a deep dive risk assessment to understand what the real risks are, something that a theoretical and algorithmic assessment can only point. Through a channel partner Trace SCI, we can conduct a Traceability and Transparency process where we vertically map the products you use down to the production level. This process is designed to shorten the supply chain, improve quality and efficiency, and reduce monetary leakage.

The process will also give insight into the specifics and context of where the real risks lie. This process is complemented with a social audit conducted that will provide ongoing monitoring and reporting.
